Beauty // My Favourite Picks from the Selfridges Beauty Box

Over Summer I treated myself to the limited edition beauty box from Selfridges and over the past few months some of the products have quickly become some of my faves :) The products are great to use all year round! I think it was such a good buy - £40 to try 13 different beauty products, not to mention it all came in a super cool huge canvas pouch from Alphabet Bags which has fast become my essential travelling companion!
Here are my stand out products . . .

Clarins Eau des Jardins Body Cream // I already have the perfume version of this and the scent is just divine - there's something about it which just instantly makes me happy! Layering the perfume over this smoothing body lotion just leaves the scent lingering for even longer. It's so addictive!

Tangle Teezer // Standard. This is my third tangle teezer but they really are the best brush for my knotty hair and I just can't be without one.

Caudalie Grape Water // I've been taking this facial spray literally everywhere with me either using it as a spray toner before moisturising or spritzing it over my face at any opportunity to refresh my makeup, add some moisture back into my skin or just keep me awake!

Urban Decay De-Slick Make-Up Setting Spray // I've wanted to try an Urban Decay setting spray for so long and I've been using this everytime to set my makeup, I just feel like it really finishes everything off and I do believe it just sets everything in place and helps my base last longer.

Nars Lipgloss in Orgasm // The shade of this is so gorgeous and unlike any other kind of lip product I own, it's a pastel coral with a really subtle gold shimmer running all the way through it.

Illamasqua Glamore Lipstick in Luster // This is the product I was probably most excited about as I think bright cool toned lipsticks really suit my complexion. I love the pinky/purple shade and it has a really nice satin finish.

Nails Inc Gel Nail Varnish in Chiltern Street // This is the most pretty girly shade and gel finishes are my absolute fave for nails <3

The other products in the box are . . .
Rodial Dragon's Blood Sculpting Gel - I've not tried this but I just don't think my skin would benefit from it - it would be more suited to older skins.
Eyeko Fat Liquid Eyeliner - too 'fat' for my set back eyes I'm afraid :( I'll stick to my Collection Fast Stroke . . .
James Read Day Tan - this does sound nice actually, I'm just so lazy with fake tanning but I will try it at some point.
Ribband Pastel Hair Ties - these are cute for around the house and I like the sorbet shades :)
Starskin Instaglam Foaming Peeling Perfection Puff - felt horrible on the skin and using it was such a faff, I threw it away after one use!
Starskin After Party Brightening Face Mask - this mask just kept sliding of my face! I just found it so messy - really not sold on this brand.

*I'm aware I haven't posted in months, I'm just rubbish wahhhh!*

Beauty // My Guide to Cleansing Balms

I can't even remember how I used to cleanse before cleansing balms came on the scene. I rely on them each evening using one to remove my makeup and another afterwards to really cleanse my skin. Here's the lowdown on some of my faves:

The Budget Buy // The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter
Great to use as a first cleanse to remove makeup - I wouldn't say it's anything special but it does the job and I always buy it when The Body Shop does their 40% off offers so it's the best bargain option!

The Reliable Repurchase // Clinique Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
If you're willing to spend a little more, this is my favourite product to use as a first cleanse as in my experience this is the best balm for removing makeup - foundation and mascara just dissolve with so much ease, it really is a miracle worker! It doesn't contain any fragrance and the no frills formula means no irritation, making it perfect for sensitive skins. It is a very basic balm cleanser that just works! I'm happily working my way through my second tub of this and I can see myself buying it again and again!

The Luxury Option // Omorovicza Thermal Cleansing Balm
The most expensive of the bunch, this is a cleansing balm with a difference. This clay-based balm uses vitamins and minerals from the Hungarian thermal waters and mud. It has a slightly grainy texture which I find helps to gently exfoliate as you cleanse and it would be ideal for oily, blemish-prone and combination skin types for a detoxifying cleanse that doesn't leave the skin feeling stripped and dry.

The Cult Product // Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa Cleansing Balm
Arguably the most talked about and most loved cleansing balm in the blogging world, this classic cleansing balm really does live up to it's hype - it has a very oily texture which when massaged in to the face makes for a spa-like cleansing experience every time!

The Perfect Second Cleanse // The Organic Pharmacy Carrot Butter
In my opinion this is the best of all the cleansing balms I've tried. I would never use this as a first cleanse as it doesn't remove my mascara completely and frankly it would be a waste of its goodness if I were to use it to remove makeup. Instead, after I have taken my make up off completely (currently using the Clinique balm) I massage the carrot butter deep into my skin every evening for a really thorough deep down cleanse. The texture of this is quite a bit thicker than any of the other cleansing balms I've tried and it leaves my skin so moisturised, plump and clear. This cleansing balm is a particularly good choice for dry and dehydrated skin types as it is the most hydrating of them all! <3

Which cleansing balms do you enjoy using?

I've been sat here ready to post this for the past hour but I'm getting so distracted by the MurrayVsFederer match, I actually feel quite nervous watching it! I think Murray's been quite unlucky to be 2 sets down considering how close it's actually been but Federer's such a force to be reckoned with I guess! Such good viewing though :D I'm hoping Murray can find a way to claw it back but it's not looking very likely right now!

Beauty // The Best Full Coverage Foundation

If you're after a full coverage flawless base then look no further, Tarte Amazonion Clay Foundation is the one! I just have to share my love for this as I've been using it for almost 3 months now and it has fast become my holy grail. Here's why . . .

* It is truly full coverage and the big selling point for me is it gives the most perfected finish - spots, redness and any imperfections are covered to give the appearance of even skin tone and an overall flawless complexion.
* It provides a matte finish that is not dry, cakey or powdery looking which would be a huge no no for me.
* I find I don't need to use much product per application - about a penny sized blob for my entire face - however it is a very buildable formula should I wish to use more.
* It claims to stay flawless for 12 hours and I can vouch that is totally the case as I have been wearing this every day for work as an air hostess - it has passed the 12 hour flight test many a time and I'm pleased to say my base always remains intact with this beauty :)
* The shade range is so extensive there's bound to be one to suit your skin tone. I use the shade 'fair beige'.

I use the Tarte Airbrush Finish Bamboo Foundation Brush to apply the foundation and buff it into my skin. I absolutely love this big chunky brush - it's so soft and the bristles are really compact which I find helps to give a completely airbrushed finish, making it the perfect accompaniment to my new favourite foundation :)

I picked these up whilst I was in America but if you're after getting your hands on them in the UK then get yourself onto the Sephora website which now delivers to the UK!
Alternatively it's worth checking out QVC which has an amazing offer where you can get both the foundation and the brush for £32.50 though unfortunately the shade range is very limited.

Beauty // My Charlotte Tilbury Makeup

Charlotte Tilbury has fast become one of my favourite beauty brands since it's release in September 2013. I'm always drawn into watching Charlottes YouTube videos which show how to create different make up looks and I love her step-by-step demonstrations on how best to use each of her products.
I found that I'd built up quite a little collection from the line so here's an introduction to my Charlotte Tilbury items :)

Lips: The first piece I bought from the range is the K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Love Bite, a gorgeous bright pillar box red with a satin finish. I use this along with the Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Kiss'n'Tell for a defined red pout which looks really striking against my pale skin tone.
I love that the lipsticks are so pigmented and the formula is very moisturising, and the lip liners are really creamy and long lasting.

I have since bought the lipstick in the shade Confession which is a suits all nude/pink tone and this along with the the Lip Cheat Lip Liner in Pillow Talk is my favourite lip duo at the moment. I think these work so well together to create a natural yet chic and modern look and it's this pair I'm wearing when I've been sporting a nude lip in my recent outfit posts.
To up the ante for an evening out I layer the Lip Lustre in Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds over the top for a more glamorous look. I'm not usually one for lip gloss but I find this works to add more of a subtle shine and slight shimmer to the lips rather than an in your face sticky gloss! It feels really comfortable on the lips and this particular shade has the most beautiful rose champagne tone to it. As if that's not enough: it smells of marshmallows!

Eyes: I have fallen in love with all of the luxurious eye palettes but I plumped for the Fallen Angel quad after I saw how Charlotte used it took create her 'Supermodel' look. The shades are great for creating that perfect smoky eye, not to mention: how dreamy is the packaging?!

The Full Fat Lashes Mascara is one of the best mascaras I've used. The formula is really buildable to create lush long and separated lashes. I have tried mascaras from Clinique and Estee Lauder that are just as good but this is another great high end option.

The Rock'n'Kohl eyeliner pencil in Bedroom Black works wonders for a graphic liner look that stays put but its gel like consistency also makes it really blendable if you wanted to create a more smudgy lived in liner look a la Kate Moss. If you were to take only a few makeup pieces to a festival this Summer this would have to be one of them!

Cheeks: The Cheek to Chic Blushers each feature 2 complementing shades designed to work together using Charlottes swish and pop technique where you 'swish' the outer shade along the cheekbone and 'pop' the colour of the inner shade onto the apple of the cheek for a healthy natural flush of colour. This shade Sex on Fire is so sophisticated compared to my usual bright pink ultra girly blushers and it's the perfect pairing to a nude lip.

Have you tried anything from Charlotte Tilbury? What other products from the brand do I just have to try?

Lifestyle // 6 Months as Cabin Crew

*rare lifestyle post alert*
As you've probably guessed from the title I have been working as an air hostess for 6 months today!

It's hard to believe that on New Years Day this year I took to the skies to operate on my first ever long haul flight to Tokyo :) and since then I've been lucky enough to cross all the continents off my 'to do' list (apart from Antarctica but it's a bit of a faff to get there apparently so I don't think I'll bother) Not bad for little ole me!
What's also quite weird is I actually had my interview for the job a year ago today which just goes to show what can happen in a year, it's keraaazy - in the best possible way!

It's amazing to visit all these unique and wonderful places as I've never really had the opportunity to travel before :) My favourite place though has to be North America! I'm aware I'm covering a fairly big surface area of the earth by saying that but I love it all! I fell for the charms of New York when I was there on my honeymoon over a year ago but the other US destinations I've been to are as equally worth a visit. I particularly enjoyed Washington DC which I've been to 3 times now and I don't think I would have ever thought to visit there if it wasn't for this job. I can't pretend I'm all about being a culture vulture though, the main reason I love heading stateside is to be reunited with my 2 loves - Sephora and epic burgers. Not even joking, neither penny pinching nor calorie counting can possibly be done once I get off the aircraft onto US soil!

To anyone considering being cabin crew, whether it's a childhood dream or the idea has just pinged into your head one day when you're feeling at a loose end (that's completely what happened to me) I say go for it! It can be a long process getting there but it's so worth the wait :) I was soooo nervous before my interview I genuinely wasn't going to go, but then I couldn't face the 'what if?' scenario haunting me forever! I am actually relieved that I put my fears aside for that day, I was buzzing afterwards and it went so fast!

It's a job at the end of the day and very hard work (the term 'trolley dolly' gives the impression it's a lot easier than it actually is!) The hours are long, the time differences can exhaust you and like any customer facing role complaints need to be dealt with, but it is soooo rewarding and getting to travel the world is one huge perk!

Have you ever thought about being a flight attendant?

Girly

jeans and necklace: topshop (necklace - old)
jacket: lipsy
shoes: river island
sunglasses: ray ban
bag: zatchels

Just a quick one today as I'm currently in Seattle :) I've never been before so I'm quite intrigued as to what it will be like, really don't know what to expect!
Managed to put this post together before I went - just a cute casual girly look. I wouldn't say this is my usual style - as I've mentioned before I've only recently started enjoying wearing jeans again and I would normally team skinnies with chunky boots but these delicate stiletto sandals make a nice change for Summer. Not showcasing groundbreaking style here haha but I hope you like anyways!

Twister Heels

 heels and socks: both asos
playsuit: lipsy (old)
headband: beau xoxo

As soon as I set eyes on the Asos collaboration with Walls ice cream I just knew I had to have a piece o' that! The whole collection just screams nostalgia and I seriously love all the cute and quirky pieces :) The standout item however has to be these crazy cool twister lolly inspired heels which I just think are so fun and the heel looks just like a twister lolly don't ya think? Almost good enough to eat! I've gone for a full on girly look here and I actually find these shoes are such a statement piece that they are quite hard to style - any ideas?! They sold out so fast initially but I've been keeping my eye out and they keep coming available again before selling out so just keep checking like I did (constantly) if you're after them :) definitely the best shoes I've ever owned!

Topshop White Jamie Jeans

cape scarf: asos
jeans, top, sandals and socks: all topshop (top and sandals old, similar herehere and here)
bag: skinnydip
watch: toywatch
necklace: present

I've rediscovered my old love for skinny jeans again this year since I got my black coated leigh jeans and now my go-to pair for S/S are these white beauties. I've found them such a great staple to have during Spring whilst it's been sunny but not particularly hot :) I originally was going to go for the 'leigh' style again as I love the style and fit of my black pair so much but when I tried them on they were so thin and slightly see-through - they looked really cheap and didn't seem the same quality as my black pair despite being the same style! I tried on every style white skinny jean in Topshop in the end and fell in love with the 'Jamie' style - they don't have quite as much stretch as the Leighs probably because the fabric is thicker (just like a traditional jean) but they are still really 'skinny', comfy and I just think they look awesome!

Which style of all the Topshop jeans is your favourite?
